You might be familiar with CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares, sometimes referred to as ‘farm shares’ or ‘farm boxes’ which are best known for keeping a fresh, seasonal supply of produce in your home throughout a farm’s growing season. But did you know that local flower subscriptions are also growing in popularity?

Our CSA finder currently has over 70 farms offering flowers as either their main subscription item, or as an add-on to their fruit or vegetable shares. And that’s not all, there are nearly 500 local flower growers on the Washington Food & Farm Finder – that’s a lot of flowers!

It’s definitely true in the PNW that Spring showers bring May flowers! Whether it’s at your community’s farmers market, your local farm stand, or co-op – Washington-grown flowers are on full display right now!

Local flowers are more than just a feast for the eyes, they are also an important component of Washington State’s rich agricultural bounty, and so important to local food systems! They make the perfect thoughtful and sustainable gift. Speaking of gifts… if you haven’t found the perfect Mother’s Day gift yet – consider gifting a flower CSA which will keep your Mom feeling loved and adored well beyond just one Sunday in May! You can sign up for most flower CSA’s right through the farm’s website! Maybe your mom doesn’t live in Washington State, and is just visiting for the weekend, so a local flower share isn’t the best fit – we got you! Take her to the 15th Annual Pike Place Market Flower Festival on Sunday May 15th. And if that doesn’t fit in your agenda – did you know you can purchase local flower bulbs or tubers and have them shipped? Yup! We have so many incredible Dahlia growers in Washington, not to mention the tulips, daffodils, peonies, and so many more!
