About Us

The Smithshyre was born out of the mantra, "Be the change."  Disenfranchised by the state of the current food system, we chose to venture our own path, one of clean food and truly happy animals.

Our mission is simple, to help our community "connect with the land that sustains us" and in doing so, feel the importance of supporting it and protecting it. We offer "agritourism" in the form of farm tours, special events, Baby Goat Playtime Sessions & Kitsap Goat Yoga.

While not certified organic, we consider ourselves an "actually organic homestead." You won't find chemicals or fancy genetics here. Our produce is grown from open-pollinated, heirloom, organic seeds just like our ancestors. All our animals are pasture-raised, fed raw organic feed and wormed herbally. We really love what we do and we want to share it with our community. Come feel the love that is The Smithshyre.

Growing & Operating Practices

As an non-certified organic homestead, we do follow organic guidelines. All our produce is grown from seeds that are certified organic with a focus on heirloom and open-pollinated varieties. Our compost is made onsite. We believe in restorative agriculture and have a goal of a seven layer permaculture forest farm. All of our animals are pastured and fed raw, organic feed. Our goat kidds are socialized by humans, not bottles, resulting in kidds who truly want to be around you. Our mission is to have a happy farm full of love, good health and you.
