About Us
Second Harvest provides consistent access to fresh, nutritious food to people facing hunger through our network of food pantries and meal sites and programs in Eastern Washington and North Idaho, distributing over 34 million pounds annually. In addition to providing partner agencies with food, we offer other direct programs. Mobile Markets occur with a refrigerated truck transporting 8,000 to 10,000 pounds of food to community centers, church parking lots, businesses, and other locations. Volunteers set up and distribute food to up to 300 families in just two hours. The Mobile Market truck serves larger populations, often in rural areas with less access to fresh produce and other perishable foods. Our Mobile Market bus targets specific populations like families with children or seniors in retirement communities. Up to 75 families receive food at each bus distribution. In partnership with At The Core –a backpack food program – (www.atthecore.online), our Bite2Go program provides children with a mix of easy-to-open, single-serving, nutritious, nonperishable food items for meals and snacks over the weekend during the school year. Today, Second Harvest, along with generous community organizations who “adopt” a school, are providing 9,200+ elementary, middle, and high school students food for the weekends through our Bite2Go and Bite2Go XL programs.
