About Us

Started in 1991, Persephone Farm unfolds across a sunny 6.5 acre slope in Indianola.
We are passionate about the exceptional freshness and quality of the produce and flowers we offer as well as about our connections with the community.
Wedding and event flowers are a specialty of ours. We are proud to be a Farm to Food Bank contributor.
Owner, Rebecca Slattery, has trained over 50 future farmers through her well-respected, often life changing 8 month internship program.

All practices are compliant with National Organic standards, though we are not certified organic. We like the terms regenerative or "morganic" to sum up our principles of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Priorities for Persephone include minimizing landfill- bound waste through closed loop systems, making our own compost, and providing food and habitat for bees and other pollinators by integrating flowers throughout our fields and incorporating wildland buffers on the perimeters.
We employ low-til practices to sequester soil carbon and enhance soil health. There is a lot of love in our food and flowers, and we believe our customers can feel and taste this.

Growing & Operating Practices

We employ regenerative agricultural practices, lo-til methods, closed loop systems, pollinator enhancement and wildlife buffers. We do not use synthetic pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. Though not certified, organic, our practices are as strict or stricter than the National Organic Standards.
