About Us

Welcome to Mt. Pleasant Iris Farm, home of Chad Harris and Dale Grams, as well as the site of a national display garden of Japanese Iris. Over the years Chad and Dale have been selecting for show-quality cut blooms and plants that are more disease resistant in the Columbia River Gorge (USDA zone 8.), Chad has been growing and hybridizing Iris ensata (Japanese Iris) for over 25 years. Currently he has also started to work with Iris laevigata and a new hybrid to the world involving Iris pseudacorus x Iris ensata called a Pseudata. Look for new introductions of these varieties in the near future., Chad is member of the American Iris Society and several sub chapters of that society. He also serves as a master judge and is an active member of the Greater Portland Iris Society., Our peak iris family bloom is extended over a three month period, April-June. To help you figure out when an iris will bloom for you, these months also correlate with the peak bloom of Narcissus (April), Peonies (May), and Daylilies (June.), You and your family are also invited to visit the gardens. Located in the scenic Columbia Gorge, the public is invited to view Mt. Pleasant Iris Farm. Click here to see garden hours, directions and a map to the farm.
