About Us
Local Yokels is an in-person and online local food market started in 2017 on the idea that we could create a fully sustainable and ethical micro-economy in local food in the Seattle area. We are a low waste, carbon neutral, 100% local grocery delivery service and corner store. BIPOC/Woman/LGBT+ owned, we source exclusively from small farms and local businesses in Washington State.
We value a clean environment; our carbon footprint is 95% lower than a traditional grocery store, we are working toward zero waste, we use compostable packaging and reusable bags for delivery, and we are working towards creating closed loop systems between our producers and customers.
We value a strong community; we center POC, LBGT+, Immigrant and Women owned businesses and give back when and where we can.
Growing & Operating Practices
Most of the farms we are Organic Certified. Some are small farms who are not certified but use organic and sustainable practices.
