Jorstad Creek Oyster Company

Lilliwaup, WA

About Us

We raise Pacific Oysters and Manila clams on a 9 acre tideflat on the shores of the deep watered Hood Canal in Lilliwaup, WA. Jorstad Creek flows into our saltwater bay with Olympic Mountain derived nutrients and the water profile creates our crisp, clean briny Hood Canal oysters.

Growing & Operating Practices

We grow our oysters from seed/juveniles that are about the size of a penny. These seed are put into reusable heavy duty mesh bags. Some grow in a tumbled system that use crab type floats attached to the bags and the oyster bags hang from a staked line, hence the tumble action. And other bags are grown directly staked down on the tideland substrate. Our oysters take about a year to reach market size.
