About Us
Good Rain Farm is located in Camas, WA - 22 miles from downtown Portland. Food sovereignty, honorable earth stewardship and community empowerment are our guiding principles. We have one acre of vegetable and fruit crops with an emphasis on native edibles while also raising heritage breed meat rabbits. We also have a second site at the EMCSWCD Headwaters Farm Incubator in Gresham, Oregon.
Good Rain translates to x̌ast sq̓it (hast squeit) in the traditional language of the Sinixt or Arrow Lakes Peoples. Farm Founder Michelle is of Sinixt ancestry. At x̌ast sq̓it Farm we explore our relationship with this land, we decolonize and question our notions of ‘food’ and ‘nourishment’. We support our community to these ends. Providing a variety of produce with an emphasis on first foods, the farm centers conversations around food sovereignty. Through our internship and food offerings we are building a stronger connection to place through positive hands-on learning around food justice, sustainable land stewardship, farming practices and local ethnobotany.
The Good Rain Farm CSA is primarily vegetables, herbs, fruits, and edible flowers and a limited amount of native edibles included. A standard share includes 8-12 different fresh items. People’s eating habits are very different, but a standard share may provide enough vegetables for two veggie-loving adults or a family of four omnivores.
