About Us

At Food is Free Tacoma our mission is to build community through food security.
We have a 3 pronged approach to address food insecurity in Tacoma:
* a gardening program
* food rescue
* gleaning program
We advocate for just and equitable food systems
Here's some more information regarding our approach to addressing food insecurity in Tacoma

* Our Gardening Program
- 30+ parkway gardens all over Tacoma
- private and public communal gardens
- public orchards

* Food Rescue
- we work with local food banks, and food rescue organizations.
- we give away food at drive-up and walk up distributions.

* Gleaning Program
- we work with Harvest! Pierce County gleaning project. Harvesting fruits and
vegetables from local farms, private and publicly owned fruit trees, gardens and
orchards.
