About Us
Flat Tack Farm is a small scale farm nestled within the serene vineyard setting of Heathen Estate in Vancouver, Washington. The farm was started in 2017 by co-farmers Kelly and Patrick. Our mission is to grow quality, nutritious produce while promoting sustainable, socially responsible farming by using techniques that regenerate the land.
We believe that natural and fresh food is fundamental to a healthy and happy lifestyle. We love cooking from scratch and know that the best flavor and the most nutrients come from well grown, fresh produce! By supporting local, responsibly grown produce, you too can help to create a stronger and healthier food system.
We offer membership boxes for pick up in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR. There is an on farm self service farm stand open seasonally and we sell every weekend June-October at the Downtown Vancouver WA Farmers Market. We also offer wholesale to restaurants and local grocery stores.
The farm started in 2017 and is operated by farmers Kelly and Patrick and their two farm helpers. We grow a very diverse variety of vegetables, fruit and offer pasture raised chicken eggs. Visit our website for more information or come by our Farmers Market Stand!
Growing & Operating Practices
We farm using only certified organic products and are finalizing our organic certification.. We go beyond organic and integrate methods that use some bio-dynamic, permaculture and other regenerative agriculture techniques. For pest control, we companion plant, use row cover, compost teas or foliar feeding, and seldomly use Bacillus Thuringiensis. For weed control, we hand cultivate using hoes and hand pulling. We also use a flame weeder when weeds are small or use stale seed bed techniques. We only tilled initially to break up the field of grass where we farm. Currently we harrow, compost/mulch and tarp.
