About Us
First Light Farm and Learning Center puts soil health first because we know that healthy soils mean healthy families, communities, and a healthy planet! Besides our U-Pick, CSA and mini farm programs, First Light Farm offers online and on-farm learning experiences to 1) help educate the public about the role we all play, individually and collectively, in the health of our planet and to 2) teach people how to grow their own food.
We have hands-on learning opportunities for individuals, families, and groups. We encourage you to learn more with us about how we each can make a difference in the health of our world, not only for ourselves, but for our children and all who inhabit the world with us.
Growing Methods
First Light Farm puts the health of our soil first. As a low-till farm, we use mulch and seasonal cover cropping to protect and nurture our soil. Besides our regular U-Pick, CSA and Mini Farm programs, we are a demonstration farm offering educational opportunities for individuals and families to learn first hand the critical role healthy soils play in mitigating our current climate crisis and different soil-friendly strategies that can be used at home. We offer on-farm classes for individuals and families to learn different skills like making pickles, salsa, dilly beans, microgreens, etc. We also offer a seasonal educational farm called "Learn and Grow" for people who want to learn to grow their own food.
