About Us
We are growing flowers organically at Historic Faraway, our farm situated on Filucy Bay on the Key Peninsula. We are not open to the public at this time but when our barn restoration is complete we will host classes & workshops. For now we do pop-ups to sell fresh flowers and also fill special orders.
Faraway Flower Farm is located on Filucy Bay, in a town called Longbranch, on the Key Peninsula. We are about 40 minutes from Tacoma, Washington. Faraway Flower Farm is part of the original Far-A-Way, a historic waterfront estate founded in 1914. We are currently restoring the buildings and landscaping to its former glory, although in many ways it will be much better than it's ever been! At Faraway Flower Farm we are using organic methods to grow stunning flowers and fragrant foliage for the floral industry, and for anyone who wants more fresh flowers in their life!We are currently not open to the public, but once our 100 year old barn restoration is complete we will have cut flowers, foliage, herbs, and interesting plants available for sale at special pop-up events as well as floral arrangements, seeds, tubers and seedlings, depending on the time of year. In my Etsy shop I have sold hundreds of dahlia tubers and thousands of easy-to-grow seeds over the past couple of years. I can't wait to have a retail shop to offer these things easily to our local flower friends. We will also sell items with a "sense of place"; items that showcase the bounty of this amazing area, such as aromatic wreathes, hand-harvested sea salts, and other handcrafted delights. Besides the retail shop the barn restoration includes a kitchen with a classroom, a floral design shop within the retail store, and the 1000 sq foot loft is an open workspace that features French doors on all 4 sides where you can take in the breath-taking views of Filucy Bay, the Upper Flower Field, our menagerie of animals including miniature horses and the other historic buildings we are in the process of restoring with meticulous attention to detail. At the same time we making major improvements to the landscaping and hardscaping, spread over about 4 of the 7 acres. High on my priority list is creating a variety of perennial beds that will not only make the estate more beautiful but will add to the offerings for floral designers and those who love to buy cut flowers for their homes. Please follow our social media which includes not only Faraway Flower Farm but Historic Faraway as well, to be kept up-to-date on our progress. I also have a website and Facebook page called Learn To Preserve, where I share helpful advice and inspiration as a Master Food Preserver. Thanks so much for your interest, Brook Hurst Stephens
