SeaTac Farmers Market Grand Opening!

July 3 @ 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Event Series Event Series (See All)

The launch of the new SeaTac Farmers Market is on July 3rd from 3-7 pm in the east parking lot at the Matt Griffin YMCA (3595 S 188th St SeaTac WA 98188).

Our team at African Community Housing & Development is expanding on the successful market model we have initiated in Delridge and built into a thriving marketplace over the past four seasons. We are excited to bring fresh, local, culturally relevant food and goods to the SeaTac area on the first Wednesday of each month from 3-7 pm beginning July 3rd through November 6th. We are one of the only BIPOC-priority markets in town, focused on providing culturally relevant food and goods to diverse communities across the south end. Our markets center culture and cultivate community, working to build food security in historic food apartheid zones (or food desert neighborhoods) along with access to holistic health and wellness programming, while eliminating barriers to market access for farmers, chefs, and artisans of color.

We are creating a one-stop-shop for all our neighbors regardless of income to celebrate the seasonal abundance our local farmers and food producers provide. We will have plenty of free food and resources to share at each market, and at our opening day celebration on July 3rd, Black Seed Farms will even be offering 125 FREE whole, ready-to-cook zabiha halal chickens from their pastures on Whidbey Island.

At each market we will:

Distribute 50+ local, organic food bags featuring seasonal fruits, veggies, grains, proteins and more – offered freely with no questions asked

Give $5 youth bucks to all kids each market to practice healthy shopping habits

Offer SNAP-EBT matching with the Market Match program

Provide free diapers, hygiene, personal care, and home cleaning products, and other basic needs

Host a wide range of community organizations offering complimentary resources, programs, and activities

Highlight a wide range of unique, hard-to-find food and goods to purchase from cultures across the globe

Take no fees or cut of sales from our vendors, so vendors always keep 100% of their revenues

Buy back leftover produce from our farmers at full price and distribute freely after each market day
