Late Season Garden Care Workshop
September 28 @ 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
$5 – $15Late summer is often a time when pests and diseases rise to their highest levels and when many plants begin their wind-down to either dormancy or natural death. With all these changes, how do we support the health and diversity of our gardens and the surrounding ecosystems? How do we protect our soils as fall and winter approach? In this workshop we will explore how we can watch the land around us for the late-season cues that can guide our decisions in the garden. We’ll talk about insects, microbes, mildews, composts and mulches, pruning, when to leave plants to die naturally, and when to remove them. All of this will be considered through the lens of honoring the plants as our teachers and respecting the individuality of each of our spaces. The workshop will include a mix of presentation, discussion, a hands-on activity, and a chance to tour our 1 acre Kid’s Farm to see how we are choosing to apply these principles in this space.
This workshop is intended for those age 13+.
