Indigo Vat Making and Dyeing

August 26, 2023 @ 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

$175.00

Hosted by Jen Williams at Wild Dreams Farm and Seed. Taught by local farmer and fiber artist Emily Tzeng.

Join us for this all blue workshop and learn all about indigo cultivation, harvest, and pigment extraction. Learn how to extract pigment using both heat and passive cold water fermentation methods and how to make a vat using your pigment.

We will have a vat made from indigo leaves grown on the farm to learn with and to use for dyeing and pigment extraction.

Come away with a skein of indigo dyed wool yarn and a silk scarf. Participants are welcome to bring a small item to dip into the vat.

This class is ideal for those who have some experience with indigo and are interested in growing their own and saving the pigment for future use but not necessary.

As part of our commitment to inclusivity and equity we are offering BIPOC scholarships for each workshop. There is no application- only a desire to attend. Please email jennifer@wilddreamsfarm.org to claim your spot.

Cost $175 includes all materials.
